Unai Emery: I Want Arsenal Back to Its Former Glory

Unai Emery, the new manager for Arsenal football club that replaced Arsene Wenger has made it his mission to bring the Gunners back to at the top as Europe’s elite team.

The 46-year old who was appointed as Arsenal’s new manager on Wednesday made his statement loud and clear at his first conference while addressing the media.

“Success next season would be developing, but how? By battling for every title. “That’s in Arsenal’s and my history. It’s very important for the club, after two years outside the Champions League, to work to be the best team in the Premier League and also in the world”, said Unai.

Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League in 2017 and won’t feature in the 2018-19 competition having previously been in every year since 1998.

The Gunners also finished sixth in the Premier League last season which made it their lowest position since they finished 12th during the 1994-95 campaign.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis revealed that the Spaniard was on an eight-man shortlist for the job, but was the club’s main target.

“All eight took part in extensive interviews and none of them withdrew from the process,” said the chief executive, who added that the job was the most attractive in world football.

“We were in a fortunate position to name our first choice. Our first interview was on 25 April and our last was on the 15 May. A formal recommendation to the board was supported by a 100-page dossier with a great degree of background information.”

The question on everyone’s mind now is, will Unai be able to bring back Arsenal to its former glory? After a disappointing run for the last 2 years, most fans were disgruntled and had started to question the ability of the former manager and the players themselves.

Could the former PSG boss be the answer to the team’s problems but we can’t be certain for sure until we see the fruits of his labour.
