Nine Lives Movie 2016 Review

Nine Lives is a movie about a very rich and successful entrepreneur and family man called Tom Brand (Kevin Spacey) who is obsessed with his company Fire Brand and has little time for his family. The world dishes him into the body of cat, an animal he hates and learns a lot from this experience.

From a first look at the cover I didn’t think this would be a flick worth watching since I have deep beef with Kevin Spacey who everyone seems to love, but just 10 minutes into the movie I was hooked.

Tom Brand is stuck in the cat he buys from Mr. Felix Perkins (Christopher Walken), a cat whisperer for his daughter on her eleventh birthday.

Kevin Spacey makes a great voice over as the cat Mr. Fuzzypants adding great humour and sarcasm in the chemistry with his young loving daughter Rebecca (Malina Weissman) who he is rarely there for, the wife Lara (Jennifer Garner) whom he barely ever spends time with and his spoilt rich ex-wife with her equally spoilt young daughter.

Tom Brand’s son has always been a disappointment to his father despite all his hardwork and effort, but he doesn’t give up to keep trying to please him. His scenes are slightly annoying though because sometimes you just wish he punches Ian (the dude trying to take over his father’s company) in the face.

If you love funny family drama, you will definitely love Nine Lives as Tom Brand discovers himself in a world as a sad grumpy cat who might be stuck in the animal’s body forever. The humbling lessons from this movie and amazing acting from Jennifer Garner leave nothing to be missed.
