Ykee Benda real name Tugume Wycliffe went all out on his hot track “Aminati” produced by Nessim and we couldn’t help but have it on replay more than three times. He has outdone himself again on this one!
Just a month ago, I had an exchange with a Ykee Benda fan on Twitter who was madly in love with his song “Whistle” featuring Rema. I expressed how disappointed I was that the song didn’t meet the usual standards he had already set with his music before despite it being a decent song.
Ykee Benda noted this, and instead of going off like a loose cannon as some Ugandan music artists do, he took in the feedback with humility and I was sure his next track would break barriers.
Indeed when you listen to Aminati, you are going to appreciate the dance grooves in this song. The beat will flow through your bones and get you on your feet whining along.
He sings about Amina, a girl he loves but is making him struggle and is messing him up. She is clearly “fleshy” and the experience most men go through when chasing younger babes in Kampala today. The lyrics are clear and comical.
I anticipate every club in the city is going to play this song at least 3 times in a night and the occasional repeat request from that DJ at your neighbourhood party, kasiki or get together.
Indeed, the boy from Kireka is talented. Don’t forget to dedicate the song to the Aminati in your life.
