FIFA president Gianni Infantino is coming to Kampala on Friday evening and will depart on Saturday according to communication from the Uganda football association FUFA.
Infantino was initially meant to arrive in Uganda on Saturday for a two-day visit to Kampala but changed it so as to be able to meet Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni this weekend.
FUFA communications manager Ahmed Hussein said, “The programme has been changed to suit the stakeholders who will meet the FIFA president on the historic visit to Uganda. It was done in consultation with the team at FIFA in Zurich and all parties involved are comfortable with the new schedule”
During his visit, Infantino is expected to meet President Museveni, and the First Lady and Minister of Sports and Education Janet Museveni, members of the FUFA executive committee, FUFA members, football sponsors in Uganda and the Uganda Cranes national team.
Since his election last year, Infantino has been meeting FIFA member associations around the globe to share ideas on football development projects.
FUFA president Moses Magogo said that football needs such contacts for the sport to grow. Ugandan football will not be the same after his visit and that it is a great moment for Ugandan football.
