California Wants to Leave USA

California wants to leave the United States of America in what has been termed as the “Calexit”, named after the “Brexit” where Britain voted to leave the European Union (EU) in 2016.

California is the wealthiest and third largest state by area in America, famous for being home to Hollywood in Los Angeles, Las Vegas which might be the biggest happening and gambling city in the world, awesome beaches, great universities, lots of rich folk, celebrities like actors, musicians and Silicon Valley which is the base for most of the greatest internet companies in the world.

Apple, Google, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace all have roots and offices in California, thus a secession would deal America a very huge blow.

Californians who want their state to secede from the United States have now started collecting signatures to put Calexit on the 2018 ballot, they will need 585,407 signatures from registered voters over the next 180 days to qualify.

Should they succeed, there will be a 2019 statewide special election asking voters if they want California to become an independent country. A ballot measure was first proposed to the state attorney general’s office in November.According to a summary prepared by the state attorney general, if the measure got onto the ballot and passed, it would repeal clauses in the California Constitution stating that the state is an “inseparable part of the United States” and that the U.S. Constitution is the “supreme law of the land,” the Los Angeles Times reported.

At this moment, little is known whether a Calexit will succeed or let alone whether the Federal government will allow it despite an election.
