Joseph Kabila, the DRC president isn’t in any moods of stepping down once his final term ends on December 19. During his public speech he made his decison quite clear.
“I cannot allow the republic to be taken hostage by a fringe of the political class,” he told parliament last month as members cheered.
Kabila also hinted on his achievements stating how his presidency had brought peace and economic stability to Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Kabila family has reaped huge profits from the business networks it has set up in Congo and it has brought in hundreds of millions of dollars to the family according to Bloomberg News investigative report.
If the president dosn’t step down, the country is yet to be torn apart by another rebellion which will only increase the loss of life and also destroy the economic stability the country had left.
